Baseball Themed Wedding Ceremony Script On the Fourth of July I married a baseball loving couple at the Indianapolis Indians game. It was a great day! It was a very casual wedding with BBQ and Beer in the picnic area after getting married under the trees. The couple had a great time doing everything in a baseball theme from the shirts they wore to the cake and bouquets. I wrote part of the ceremony and groom write his own funny vows. It was awesome! Welcome! We are gathered here today to celebrate and to witness the joining of Bride and Groom in marriage. As they promise to love, trust in that love, honor one another as individuals, and anticipate with joy spending the rest of their lives together. They, are surrounded by you - their friends and family. Thank you for gathering here to witness their marriage and to share in the joy of this special occasion. Who gives this woman to be married? Family: We all do. Thank you. Bride and Groom, You have known each other from the first glance of acquaintance to this point of commitment. At some point, you decided to marry. From that moment of yes to this moment of yes, indeed, you have been making promises and agreements in an informal way. All those conversations that were held riding in a car or over a meal or during long walks - all those sentences that began with "When we're married" and continued with "I will and you will and we will" - those late night talks that included "someday and somehow and maybe"- and all those promises that are unspoken matters of the heart. All these common things and more are the real process of a wedding. The symbolic vows that you are about to make are a way of saying to one another, "You know all those things we've promised and hoped and dreamed- well, I meant it all, every word." Look at one another and remember this moment in time. Before this moment you have been many things to one another- acquaintance, friend, companion, lover, dancing partner, and even teacher, for you have learned much from one another in these last few years. Now you shall say a few words that take you across a threshold of life, and things will never quite be the same between you. For after these vows, you shall say to the world, this- is my husband, this- is my wife. Vows Groom, from this day forward, do you promise to love Bride as much as the Chicago Cubs, listen to all of her complaints if she says them during the offseason and to retire your baseball cap and face paint for public outings? Will you love her in sickness and in health, from this day forward, until death parts you two or she becomes a White Sox fan? Groom: I do. Do you Bride, promise to love Groom as much as you love his credit cards, to not hold his poor fashion sense against him, to only show him your new clothes during commercial breaks and to keep him in the latest Cubs fashions? From this day forward, will you make sure his lucky shirt is washed for every game day and that he always has plenty of potato chips on hand? Will you love him for richer or poorer, as long as his credit limit stays high? Bride: I do. The rings, please… The rings are the universal symbols of marriage. They mean many things. From now on you will wear these rings and they will remind you... They will remind you of the endless circle that they are. Like love, there is no beginning and no end. They will remind you daily that you are married. Sometimes they will remind you of the commitment that you have made - for better or worse. But, may they always remind you that there is one other person in the world that has pledged to love you forever, through thick and through thin and with all that they have. please repeat after me.... Bride, I give you this ring as a sign of my devotion and love and with all my heart I promise you all that I am. With this ring, I marry you and join my life to yours. Groom, I give you this ring as a sign of my devotion and love and with all my heart I promise you all that I am. With this ring, I marry you and join my life to yours. Now, a few words before I pronounce you married. I thought I’d keep it in a baseball and 4th of July theme. There will be times when you strike out and times when you hit a homerun. But it’s usually a bunch of singles and doubles that add up to win a game. Every position on the team is important, just like every member of your family is important. Play to everyone’s strengths. A lot of people make their wedding day serious, and traditional. You decided to associate your wedding day with a game! That’s awesome! I think we all can agree, peanuts, Cracker Jacks, hot dogs, and BBQ on the 4th of July with fireworks is definitely a party everyone can enjoy! Live your lives like today. Simple and fun. Marriage is serious but you decided to get married because of the simple fun and love you have together. You’ve literally known each other since you were children. 22 years later, here you are. Tonight, the fireworks go off to celebrate the two of you! May you find your own independence in the love you share with each other. May you find your freedom knowing you will always be there for each other. I now pronounce you husband and wife! You may kiss your bride! Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. and Mrs.!!! ![]()
