This Christian wedding ceremony was written by the mother of the bride. She had originally written it for her own wedding 30 years earlier. It was a very special moment for them both. Christian Wedding Ceremony Script 10 Dearly beloved, since you now propose to enter into the holy estate of matrimony, which is to be held in honor by all, it is good to hear what the word of God teaches concerning this estate. Hear also what God hath commanded concerning the conduct of spouses toward each other in Ephesians chapter 5 verses 21 to 31; The subject to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives, be subject to your husbands, as the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body and is himself it's Savior. As the church is subject to Christ, so let wives also be subject in everything to their husbands. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church, and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of the water with the word, that he might present the church to himself, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. Even so husbands should love their wives as they love their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no man ever hates his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes, as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body. For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one. It is also good for you to hear about the way of love which is pleasing to God as described in 1st Corinthians chapter 13; If I speak in the tongues of men and angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never naughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong. It is never glad about Injustice, but rejoices whenever truth wins out. If you love someone you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost. You will always believe in him, always expect the best of him, and always stand your ground in defending him. All the special gifts and powers from God will someday come to an end, but love goes on forever. When I was a child I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child does. But when I became a man my thoughts grew far beyond those of my childhood, and now I have put away the childish things. I will see everything clearly, just as God sees into my heart right now. There are three things that remain... Faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love. Let love be your greatest aim. Into the Blessed estate, Bride and Groom have come to be united, and that those present may know your mutual consent in holy wedlock to have been sincerely and freely given, it behooves you to declare in the presence of God and all these Witnesses, the sincere intent that you both have: Who now gives Bride to be married to Groom? Groom, will you take Bride to be your wedded wife? To love and honor, and cherish her, and keep with her this bond of wedlock holy and Unbroken for all eternity? If so, declare before God and these Witnesses by saying I do. Bride: I do Bride, will you take Groom to be your wedded husband? To love and honor, and cherish him, and keep with him this bond of wedlock holy and Unbroken for all eternity? If so, declare before God and these Witnesses by saying I do. Groom: I do May we have the rings please. Exchange rings as a pledge and token of your wedding love and faithfulness. Please repeat after me: Bride: With this ring I thee wed; in the name of the father, the son, and the holy ghost. Amen. Groom: With this ring, I thee wed; in the name of the father, the son and the holy ghost. Amen. Bless, Oh Lord, these rings that he who gives it and she who wear it may abide in thy peace, and continue in thy favor unto and beyond their life's end; through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen What God has joined together, let not man put asunder. And for as much as Bride and Groom have consented in holy wedlock and have witnessed the same before God and these witnesses, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride. (Groom and Bride kiss) Song starts as bride and groom turn to the audience and officiant says "I now introduce Mr. and Mrs. ________. Please take your first steps as husband and wife.” ![]()
