Tying of the Fisherman’s Knot Unity Ceremony Reading Your Love Knots

2/14/2019

Your Love Knots
Author, Heather Burns

Your love
knots
are tied
around
my heart

Holding me
securely
under their
spell

Threads of
gold and
silver
have spun
a lovely
web

Attaching
themselves
to my heart
strings

refusing to
let go
leaving my
heart tied
with your
love knots.

Tying of the Fisherman’s Knot Unity Ceremony Reading

2/14/2019

Knots of Love
Author, Tim Romines

Love and relationships are a lot like knots.
Like knots relationships are not originally pre-assembled
Instead, some assembly is required and maintenance is expected.
The strength of your knot should get stronger in time.
Knots can have one rope but the stronger need two.
Carefully woven within each other two ropes become one.
With every tie with every twist its strength becomes stronger and stronger
Some knots are temporary and some are never undone.
You the couple are the ropes, your relationship the knot
How tight you tie it is up to you both only you can decide.
Just remember the stronger you make your knot now
The harder it will be to untie.

Today, Groom and Bride have chosen to “Tie the Knot” to symbolize the two of them coming together as one. They will be making the “true lovers knot” which is the strongest there is; it will not break, and will only become stronger when under pressure. The rope itself will break before the knot comes undone.

May we now have the cords? [Mother of the bride and groom will bring the cords to the front, present the cords to their child and give us kisses & hugs]

These two cords represent your past, your own individual and separate lives before today.

[As BRIDE & GROOM start to tie the knot as OFFICIANT continues]

As you intertwine your pieces, you are joining your two lives into one, representing the present. The finished knot symbolizes your future, and how your love and marriage will continue to be strong despite any trials life may throw your way.

Bride and Groom are about to do something special to symbolize their love for each other by literally tying the knot.”

Each of these ropes represents your past, your own individual and separate lives before today. As you intertwine your ropes, you are joining your two lives into one, representing the present. The finished knot symbolizes your future, and how your love and marriage will continue to be strong.

Bride and Groom, please tie the knot.

Groom, since you are asking Bride to marry you, take this cord, which represents the bond between you, and tie the knot which signifies your intentions for your gathered friends and family to see.

Groom ties the knot and hands the rope to Bride.

Bride, will you tighten the knot to represent how you will hold his heart tight to yours.

Bride tightens knot and hands rope to Officiant. Officiant holds knot up for all to see.

I see by this knot before me that you both share the same intentions concerning this relationship, that you will hold each other’s heart tight, and form a strong bond from here to forever.

Tying of the Fisherman’s Knot Unity Ceremony Script Option 3

Bride and Groom, we are not going to celebrate your new union with the symbolic tying of a fisherman’s knot; a true lovers knot, It is the strongest there is; its bond will not break, becoming ever stronger under pressure.

These two cords represent your individual selves and the unique and special gifts you bring to your marriage.

As you fasten your pieces together, this  represent the joining  of your two lives into one common purpose. The completed knot represents your future, secure in the knowledge your relationship will continue to be strong despite the inevitable changes life brings. Although the fisherman's knot is one of the simplest to tie, it is also one of the sturdiest. As stress is applied, the knot becomes ever stronger.

It is the goal of marriage to achieve a blending of hearts and lives, but like the spaces between these cords formed by the knot, let there also be spaces in your new life together, so each may encourage and nurture the individual growth of the other.

I ask that you now tie the knot, and when you are done,  pull on this rope to see it strengthen under pressure while still allowing us to see the individual cords - just as your support of one another as beautiful and blessed individuals strengthens your union.
As you hold one another in mutual concern and shared respect, may you continue holding each other tightly in your hearts and form a strong bond, now and forever. May this love knot be a reminder of the strength of your love and the binding together of your two hearts.

The couple has just sealed their relationship with the exchange of vows and the giving and receiving of rings. Today their relationship is further symbolized by the tying of a fisherman's knot; a true lover’s knot, for it is the strongest there is; its bond will not break, becoming ever stronger under pressure.

These two cords represent each of you as individuals - as the unique and special gifts you bring to your marriage. As you fasten your pieces together, these actions represent the joining of your two lives into one common purpose. The completed knot represents your future, secure in the knowledge your relationship will continue to be strong, despite the inevitable changes life brings.
